LayerZero is an immutable and secure verification agnostic transport layer that enables smart contracts on different blockchains to interoperate. It is a fully connected point-to-point mesh network not bound to any specific infrastructure or blockchain. Stargate is built on LayerZero and leverages endpoints located on the supported blockchains to facilitate communication between its liquidity pools. When a user initiates a cross-chain transfer, these endpoints enable Stargate to submit messages that notify the liquidity pool on the destination chain to execute the necessary actions.
